Feedback across cultures – video:

The main reason why feedback goes wrong, is because we are unaware of the cultural differences. We all want constructive feedback, but what that looks like – is what differs across the globe.

I learned this the hard way. When I was working in Japan, reporting to my American boss, she told me I was ignoring her feedback. I was shocked— I had no idea she was even giving me feedback.

That moment and the mess that came after it, made me realize just how Dutch I really am and how much that influences the way I believe things ‘should be done’. Feedback included.

You think you got it, but it you are not 100% sure.

You truly want to give constructive feedback but everyone is so different…
